Sandymount and Baggot Lane, Dublin 4

Our room holds twelve. On a Thursday it turns over six times.

We run personal training and small group training in Dublin 4. The first class goes at 06:15, our over 60s are in at 10:15, mums and tots at 11:00, and the last of the day at 18:40, all on the same floor in Sandymount.

One room, one day

Drag through a Thursday and watch who is in our room.

Twelve places, one coach, six classes between six in the morning and twenty to seven at night. The programme barely changes. The room does, completely.

Thursday, Sandymount

06:15

Hybrid

The first class of the day. Forty five minutes of strength, functional work and conditioning, and you are back out on Sean Moore Road before the road is properly awake.

Twelve places. That is the whole room, and it does not get bigger at half six.

Why the cap matters

Nobody looks forward to a 6am alarm. A room capped at twelve is a different question.

Small enough that we correct your set-up before it becomes a habit, and small enough that we notice when you are not in it. That is the whole reason we hold the number down.

What we run

Three programmes on rotation, and three more for the people the gym usually forgets.

Every session is different. You will not repeat a workout with us, and after two months you will not have repeated a circuit either.

Eight week block

Lift

Squat, deadlift and bench press, with the isolation and accessory work that makes them go up. Strength, power, and the capacity to lift for life.

Forty five minutes

Hybrid

Strength, functional fitness and conditioning in one session. A full body workout built to move your cardiovascular and muscular endurance at the same time.

All abilities

Hyrox

Eight one kilometre runs and eight functional stations. Come to us for your first event, or take the session for what it is: a complete test of cardio and strength.

Over 55s

Active For Life

Mobility, flexibility, strength and energy, on a timetable that puts you in the room at quarter past ten rather than half six.

Tuesday and Thursday, 11:00

Mum and tots

A post natal class where the tots come with you. Same room, same coaching, at the hour of the day that actually works.

Six or twelve weeks

Nutrition

Coaching over six or twelve weeks, tailored plans, and the cook books and guides that go with them. Training is half of it and we would rather not pretend otherwise.

The whole week, both studios

This is the timetable, not a sample of it.

What people say once they are in the room.

Love these classes! I started weight training with them for the first time two months ago and I already feel the results. I feel stronger! Groups are small and coaches are very knowledgeable.

Elena Uribe

I do a mix of strength, sweat and squad classes, improving my strength and cardio, and losing fat. The trainers are all nice, knowledgeable and encourage you to push it! I really see and feel the difference in myself.

Dave Healy

Great, friendly, community environment. For all fitness levels and skills. Lovely, highly skilled trainers, that keep you motivated to give it your all and stay on track. I'm feeling healthier, fitter, and stronger, thanks to everyone at Movement.

The one week of the year the 6am is somebody else's problem.

Our retreat takes the training out of Dublin 4 altogether: the same coaching and the same group, in an open sided barn above the Mondego river, with the water and the hammocks a short walk down the hill.

Someone floating on the surface of the pool, wooded hillside rising behind Two people rowing side by side on a timber deck under gymnastic rings, trees behind Four pictures stacked together: the farmhouse on the hillside, two dishes of prepared food, the tree line, and the pool
